Study Abroad Program Application

Applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be considered eligible for study abroad:
  • Completed at least 24 credit hours at FSU
  • Maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Be in good standing according to the University's Code of Conduct

The process for applying to study abroad is two-part. The CIE Study Abroad Application is used to approve students for study abroad participation, then students will apply directly to their program of choice.

Please note that the release of confidential information is strictly voluntary, however failure to alert the CIE to any serious medical or psychological conditions which may require special accommodation overseas, or which may result in serious injury to either yourself or others, could lead to your dismissal from the study abroad program.

Please indicate whether FSU should be aware of any medical, physical or psychological conditions which may affect you while you are overseas
Personal Essay
Submit a personal essay explaining why you want to study abroad. Answer the following questions in your essay:
  • Why do you want to study abroad?
  • Why have you selected this particular program?
  • Describe how this program fits into your overall academic requirements as well as your personal goals.
  • Have you previously studied/worked/traveled abroad?
  • What languages do you speak and at which level?
  • What are you currently doing to prepare to go abroad?
  • How do you plan to use your study abroad experience after you return to campus?
  • How will this experience help you in the future with your career?



Faculty Letter(s) of Recommendation
Applicants are required to submit one letter of recommendation from an FSU faculty member. Letters may be delivered or emailed to the CIE Office. Please list the name of the instructor(s) providing the recommendation:
