Praxis Core Mandate Agreement

As mandated by the the Maryland State Department of Education, in order to be eligible for certification in any Teacher Education Program offered through Frostburg State University, one of the following three requirements must be satisfied:

Meets Praxis Core criterion as set by MSDE (currently Reading score of 156, Writing score of 162, and Mathematics score of 150) or
Meets ACT or SAT criterion as set by MSDE (ACT composite score of 24 and SAT score of 1180 for critical reading and mathematics) or
3. Meets GPA requirement of 3.0, including all transfer grades, upon formal admission to the program AND graduates with a cumulative 3.0 grade point average.

I understand that if I have not earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 upon graduation, I will not be eligible for certification. My options would be to pass all 3 sections of the Praxis Core, meet SAT or ACT requirements, or enroll in additional courses with the hope of improving the GPA. I further understand that I will need to meet the passing score on all Praxis exams required for specific licensure areas, and other certification requirements, as mandated by the Maryland State Department of Education. Please note that Frostburg State University is a degree granting institution and not a certifying body.
